#31: The Name of the Game
consistency, messy desks, and how chaos is slowly helping the West see nuance
Dear reader,
It’s nearly April! Depending on which part of the world you sit in, April brings you flowers, spring showers, or thunderstorms at night and sandstorms in the morning.
For me, and a lot of poets around the world, April is all about consistency. We’re gearing up for National Poetry Writing Month, where a lot of us will attempt to write a poem a day. I’ve been a fan of the prompts by The Alipore Post and Escapril, so I’ll most likely be using them again this year.
Maybe it’s the change of seasons, but I’ve been going through a huge creative burst recently. The positive is that I’m making a lot more art, but the negative is that my workspace is a bit of a rat’s nest at the moment.
I’ve got my first solo coming up at the end of this year, so research and planning have been feeling dreary - sometimes you just gotta stop thinking and splash colour onto paper. Even if I don’t have a finished painting by the end of that session, I usually end up with a solution to whatever else I’ve been thinking about (aka plans for work).
Such is the importance of consistency. Inspiration’s got to find you working, right? So get to work - and let it surprise you.
This Week’s Deep Dive:
How cancer behaves when it’s sent up into space. Also, people are figuring out how to ‘cut’ HIV out of cells. How freakin’ cool!
This article on why language just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do anymore - and how that’s eroding trust worldwide. Personally I feel like a lot of these revelations are the foundation of a lot of Eastern philosophy (cough cough nuance cough cough) but it’s interesting to see it through an economic lens.
My (current) favourite music to paint to.
Keeping it short and sweet today. Work desk and colours are still calling out to me.
See ya!
Kaav.
